Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: Linkan Subudhi, a young technical lead working at Infosys, Bhubaneswar is now mulling to adapt some of the good things she came across during her recent visit to China.
Subudhi who also wears the hat of a social worker was sent on a seven-day trip to the Republic of China along with 199 other youth from across the country from August 20- 26.
The Indian government in August selected 200 youth to visit the country on the invitation of Republic of China. The 200 members were selected on the basis of their special merit as exhibited in different fields. During their visit they were exposed to the rich cultural, industrial and sociological heritage of the country.
An overwhelmed Subudhi says the trip had a great impact on her and it injected in her the curiosity to learn and explore Chinese life. She says, “The trip was very crucial and it taught all the youth members a different way of life. We visited rural areas which were greatly influenced by smart technologies. There was no physical presence of traffic police on the roads rather technology has taken up the reins of traffic management. Like this on a few other fronts, too, we learnt crucial things about the country form the trip.”
The delegation toured many places of the country to get acquainted with the diversity. Trips including industrial ones gave them first-hand experience of how the industrial sector functions in China.
The delegation landed in China August 20 where a warm welcome was accorded to it by the China Youth Team and Guides. The delegation visited the Forbidden City, the oldest palace of the Ming Dynasty. The bricks used for this palace were burnt bricks. The colours used had the dynasty’s copyright. Other places visited by the team included the National Museum of China, China Radio International, the Great Wall of China, Huawei Company office and Da Xingshan Temple.
What particular aspect of China moved the social worker the most? She replies, “The most important thing I observed in the whole trip was that girls are always and everywhere safe whether outside the house or inside it. Also the cleanliness, hygiene and participation of the youth in nation-building are commendable aspects of Chinese culture.”
