Tihidi: Police Monday arrested a teacher on the charge of molesting a Class VI girl of Gopaladahara primary school under Sahapur panchayat in Bhadrak district.
According to police, the incident occurred January 19 when accused Narsingh Charan Sahu, finding the girl alone on the school premises, allegedly molested her. He also allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.
The girl narrated her ordeal before her parents who brought the matter to the notice of locals.
Villagers convened a meeting and imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on Narsingh. However, the accused did not pay the fine to the girl’s family.
The girl’s father then lodged a complaint with the SP.
Police registered a case acting on direction of SP Nihar Ranjan Dash and arrested Narsingh.
The accused was later produced in a court. However, Narsingh refuted the allegation and claimed he was innocent. PNN
