Chennai: Actors Suriya and Jyotika have renewed their wedding vows to celebrate 20 years of togetherness.
The couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary with an intimate Christian wedding ceremony surrounded by close friends and family.
The superstar couple, who got married September 11, 2006, are parents to two children, Diya and Dev.
Jyotika shared a series of photographs and videos from her picture-perfect wedding ceremony with a heartfelt note for her husband Suriya. In the video, Jyotika walks down the isle with her son while her daughter accompanied Suriya.
“THE SEQUEL – A vow renewal, celebrating our 20 years of love and war. And no, this is not a celebration of a perfect marriage. This is a celebration of imperfections, of adjustments, of understanding, sacrifices, of loving each other selflessly. This is a celebration of ‘us’. The people we have become for each other,” the “Chandramukhi” star wrote in the captions.
In her note, Jyotika reflected on how a dream that once felt far from reality has now become a reality she hopes to spend the rest of her life cherishing.
“…I vow to cherish our friendship most of all – because it’s rare to find your equal, your confidant, your gossip partner and your best friend, all living inside one special man who also happens to be your husband and the father of your children.
So here’s to our next twenty years – the imperfect us, with the perfect understanding,” she wrote.
Suriya, 51, and Jyotika, 47, first met on the set of the film Poovellam Kettuppar in 1999.
After dating for several years, Suriya and Jyotika got married September 11, 2006, in Chennai.
Jyotika, who made her cinema debut with the Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, has established herself as one of the most prominent names in Tamil cinema alongside her husband Suriya, who is also a superstar and was last seen in director Venky Atluri’s Vishwanath & Sons.
