Bolangir: A theft suspect escaped from police custody in Odisha’s Bolangir district after breaking a window grill at Puintala police station, an official said Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as Mantu Dalei, was arrested Tuesday night during a patrol in Puintala and detained in connection with a theft case. Police said he slipped away in the middle of the night after asking to use the toilet.
“Dalei has been involved in several theft cases under different police stations,” said Anita Pradhan, Inspector-In-Charge of Puintala police station.

Two police teams have been deployed to trace him and raids are being carried out in different locations, Pradhan said.
