Bhubaneswar: As many as 62,487 cases were settled during the third National Lok Adalat of the year, organised by the Khordha District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at judicial court premises across the district Saturday.
A total of 83,061 cases were taken up, of which 62,487 were settled through mutual agreement.
The total settlement amount stood at Rs 28,85,10,978 crore, covering revenue matters, criminal cases, outstanding bank loans and other disputes.
The National Lok Adalat, held under the direct supervision of District and Sessions Judge and Khordha DLSA Chairman Biranchi Narayan Mohanty, witnessed the settlement of a record number of cases.
DLSA Secretary Salomi Sahu thanked judicial officers, advocates and officials from banks, insurance companies, telecom services and the revenue department for their cooperation in making the Lok Adalat a success.
She also urged all concerned authorities to begin preparations for the fourth National Lok Adalat, scheduled for December 12, 2026, and appealed to the public to use the opportunity to settle pending disputes amicably.
