Lord Ganesh is one of the most loved and revered gods in the Hindu pantheon. He is known by various names like ‘Agra Pujya’, ‘Bighna Vinashak’, ‘Gajanana’ ‘Ekadanta’ ‘Lambodara’ etc. He is worshipped to get rid of obstacles in life.
On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the Lord is worshipped at educational institutions like schools, colleges and pandals across the nation. Besides this special occasion, the Lord is also worshipped by some devotees routinely at homes. But are you aware that a certain type of the Lord’s statue or photo should not be worshipped at home and what the repercussions would be if it is worshipped even unknowingly.
Mostly two types of idols of this Lord Ganesha are found to be worshipped across homes and offices. They are the left-sided Ganesha and right-sided Ganesha. If the trunk of the lord’s statue turns left side in the beginning, it is called left-sided or Vamamukhi Ganesha and if the trunk turns right side, it is right-sided or Dakshinabhimukhi Ganesha.
To worship the Lord at homes, it is strongly advisable not to keep right-sided Ganesha statue, idol or photo. The right-sided Ganesha is known as ‘Siddhi Vinayak’. If the right-sided Ganesha is worshipped perfectly, then the wishes are granted quickly. But, even if there is a slight flaw in the worship, it will give undesirable results.
So, if you want to worship Ganpati at homes, always prefer left-sided Ganesha and the deity should be in sitting position with its trunk touching the ladoo on his hand.
