Mohana: In a combined operation with Adaba police security personnel Saturday recovered three tiffin bombs from a roadside near Baliganda village under Adaba police limits in Gajapati district. Many more explosives and bullets were also recovered from the spot along with the bombs, sources said.
The incident spread terror in the minds of locals. While the Maoists were missing for a while, the recovery of tiffin bombs spread panic among locals.
In a bid to find out the whereabouts of Maoists, security personnel carried out a combing operation Maoist villages of Garadama, Katama, Paniganda, Raipanka and Mandimera.
Acting on a directive of Gajapati SP Sushil Kumar Panigrahy, Adaba police along with SSF and DVF personnel conducted a routine combing operation in forests near these villages. Meanwhile, they noticed a mound on the roadside in the forest.
Suspecting foul play, the jawans removed the mound and recovered three tiffin bombs with one weighing 15 kg and two weighing 3 kg each. Five bullets, a claymore mine, four pencil batteries, five meter electric wire and a packet of explosives were also recovered from the spot, Adaba IIC Anam Lakra said.
A bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot and diffused the bombs, sources said. Combing operation in the area was intensified following the incident, sources added. PNN
