In other words, one by using this unique technique can lead a life that can turn out to be enviable for others.

But then what is Feng Shui? It is a technique that combines Chinese astrology with the shape, magnetic direction and age of structures. And those who practice it, the results are there for everyone to see. It brings peace and prosperity to an individual’s home and along with it provides the chance to lead a healthy life.

To practice the art of Feng Shui some essential ingredients are required and mind you, it is very easy to acquire them. The technique of Feng Shui is based on nature… so the more one utilises natural sources, the better it is for that individual.

One of the main components of implementing Feng Shui properly is through ‘free movement of clean air’ as it boosts health. So plants should be kept in the house, air purifiers should be used and even the number of furniture should be reduced to facilitate the movement of clean and healthy air. It will certainly contribute in maintaining the health and well being of the residents of the house.

Proper utilisation of natural as well as smart indoor lighting will also contribute to the prosperity and well being. Proper natural light helps in energising the body. So houses which have access to plenty of natural lights, the chances of healthy individuals residing there are much more in comparison to places which are dimly lit. Also it should be seen that indoor lighting should be done in such a manner that it hits the human body the maximum. When that happens, one certainly feels an increase in energy levels within the body.

Also clutter-free space is an important ingredient of proper Feng Shui. Clutter within the home drains energy so the number of furniture at residences should be reduced. They can be replaced with lush green plants or a small water body on the eastern side of the home. This will go a long way in keeping the inhabitants healthy.

However, just clean air, lighting or clutter-free space is not enough for the proper implementation of Feng shui. Experts are of the opinion that energies and directions change annually according to the Chinese calendar. Currently the home should be designed in tune with the ‘Year of the Yin Earth Pig’ which started February 5 this year and will continue till January 24, 2020.

Feng Shui master SBS Surendran while describing the significance of the year states, “Pig is the last animal in the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs. The four components that supposedly create a person’s destiny are the year, month, day and hour of birth. It is also known as ‘Phat chee’ in Chinese. The element ‘Yin Earth’ represents Mother Earth, which symbolises comfort, support and relaxation. As the elements in clash are, water against earth, it will be a year which will call for meticulous planning and precaution as deception and shaky ground for all ventures is indicated.”

But then can Feng shui bring in an increase in wealth. Experts say it certainly can. They say that the best way to attract money to a home is by placing plants, flowers, crystal at strategic locations. However, to do that the inhabitants will have to take the help of an expert who is locate the strategic locations along with a ‘money corner’ which has to be cleaned properly every day.

Experts have the following suggestions for a healthy and prosperous life during the ‘Year of the Yin Earth Pig’ period.

They are:

For maintaining proper health, the northeast area of the home should be fitted with metal objects and artifacts

To expedite a project, one should add metal objects to the southwest area of the home. If the bedroom is in the southwest, and cannot be relocated then 25 pounds of metal should be put under the bed.

To create wealth, one should display symbol of wealth at various corners of the house like keeping money change in a transparent glass, hang pictures of wealth like your dream car or place piggy banks at various corners of the house.
