Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: Cuttack-A will meet YMCA, Cuttack while BBSR-A will face RSP in the semifinals of the boys’ event of the Vth NTPC Inter-District and Orissa State table Tennis Championships-2016 which started Sunday at Kaniha in Angul district. Cuttack A registered facile victories over Bolangir and Rayagada while RSP defeated BTTA-B and Cuttack-B in their group matches to qualify for the last four stage.
In women’s singles all the top seeds including Ananya Basak, Samartha Prusty, Yoshita Jamulla and Poushali Ghatak made it to the last eight stage.
DR College in final
DR College, Bhubaneswar defeated Capital Law College by 69 runs Sunday to enter the final of the Utkal University-organised Inter-College cricket tournament. In the semifinal played at the SCB College Ground in Cuttack, DR College emerged easy winners.
Batting first, the winners scored 172 for the loss of seven wickets with Avinabh Ghosh (57, 101b, 9×4) and Kabaliyanath Sharma (43, 48b, 3×4, 1×6) batting well. Swayam Samant (3/34) bowled well for Capital law College.
However, while chasing down the target, Capital Law College were never in the fray and finished on 103 for nine. Jagjit Mohant (45, 69b, 7×4) batted well for them. Asish Kumar sahu (2/12) and Kuna Gochayat (2/24) bowled well to script victory for DR College.
Rishikesh shines
Riding on an eight-wicket haul by Rishikesh, Infosys trounced IMMT by eight wickets in a match of the E-League, Sunday. Put into bat IMMT were bowled out for 110 in 25.2 overs as Rishikesh (8/28) ran through their batting order. Infosys had no problems in reaching the victory target and duly scored 111 for two with Sushant Sethy remaining unbeaten on a well-made 63.
