Traffic restrictions in Temple City during Durga Puja

Bhubaneswar: As the City of Temples gears up for Durga puja celebrations, the Commissionerate Police (CP) Monday issued guidelines imposing specific restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles from 4 pm to 2 am daily till October 20. The restrictions are aimed at smooth flow of traffic on the city roads during the festivities.

As per the notification issued in this connection traffic from Khandagiri to Pokhariput will be diverted via Jagamara and Gandamunda, while vehicles coming from Fire Training School crossing towards Sishu Bhawan would be diverted via Paika Nagar, Siripur and Ganganagar.

Vehicular traffic from CRP to Power House will be diverted via Stewart School and Unit-8 DAV School, while vehicles coming from Jayadev Vihar to Raj Bhawan will pass through Behera Sahi and Sastri Nagar. Traffic from Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan will be diverted via Xavier, Kalinga Hospital, Damana and Patia. Similarly, vehicular traffic from Acharya Vihar going to the New Airport will pass through Nicco Park, Patel Marg, Housing Board, Rabindra Mandap and AG crossing to Acharya Vihar to Kalinga Hospital via Sainik School.

Vehicles coming from Vani Vihar and going towards Sishu Bhawan will pass through Rupali, Satya Nagar, Ram Mandir, Master Canteen and Rajmahal. Similarly, vehicles from Rasulgarh to Lingipur will pass via Bomikhal, Laxmisagar, Kalpana, Ravi Talkies and Samantarapur and those from the service roads of NH-16 will move from Baramunda to Palasuni.

Heavy vehicles coming from Khurda will be diverted from Pitapalli to Balikuda via Chandaka and Barang. Vehicles may also be diverted from CRP Square to Bidyut Marg via Ekamra Villa.

During Ravana Podi, vehicles on the NH-16 from Cuttack will be diverted from Jayadev Vihar to CRP Square via Behera Sahi, Sastri Nagar, Power House and Unit-8 DAV crossings.

Passenger buses coming from Puri to Bhubaneswar will be allowed to ply from Lingipur to Baramunda bus stand via Samantarapur, Kalpana, Rajmahal, Sishu Bhawan, Ganga Nagar and Fire Training School.

Similarly, buses coming from Baramunda to Puri will be allowed on the same route up to Sishu Bhawan and then through Mausima, Museum, Samantarapur crossings to Lingipur on the NH.

The notification underlines that violation of the order is an offence punishable under Section 96 of Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003, and the violators may be fined Rs 500, which may extend up to Rs 1,000.
