Jagatsinghpur: A transferred police officer is in the news as he has not vacated his quarters so far. Sujogya Mishra was posted as Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) at Jagatsinghpur. Two months has passed after his transfer and one month since he was relieved.
It seems the police officer has probably developed a close attachment to this town as his nameplate is still displayed on the gate of his quarters. As his quarter is directly in front of the police station, the nameplate is confusing people who come here.
There are rumours that Mishra’s transfer is likely to be cancelled, and that is the reason his nameplate has not been removed.
The key of the newly constructed barracks is still with Mishra. He keeps visiting the barracks whenever he wants and exercises there. After he was relieved he should have handed over the key to the IIC. Due to Mishra’s seniority, the IIC cannot ask for the key.
The public thinks that Mishra’s quarters in front of the police station helps him influence commoners and police staff.
Sources said as per the letter from police headquarters (No: 3885/06-10-2018) SDPO Mishra has been appointed as DSP at the Balasore district police office. After his transfer, he has gone on leave citing various reasons and has not joined duty.
Some policemen are saying that his transfer has been cancelled fuelling speculation. A few days later the 2019 elections code of conduct will be enforced, and once enforced all transfers will be cancelled.
SDPO Mishra was not available for comment. SP Prakash R. said that Mishra can keep his government quarters for some more months even after his transfer. Rent will be charged if he overstays without permission.
IG Saumendra Priyadarshi said he would take action after enquiring into the charges regarding nameplate and barrack key. Many officers have been transferred and it will take time for the new SDPO to join in his new place, Priyadarshi added.
