Bhubaneswar: With an aim to provide a platform to artistic talents of tribal children, Dhauli College of Art and Crafts organised an art competition at Kandeli village, Chatabara gram panchayat, Sunday.
As many as 25 tribal children participated and created paintings on theme Orissa art & culture and tribal life.
Speaking to Orissa POST, Dhauli College of Art and Crafts principal Panchanan Samal said, “We know that there many tribal children who are extremely talented. The competition was organised to provide a platform to such talents.”
Social worker Sushanta Sahoo, sand artist Subala Moharana, artist Anasuya Sahoo and social activist Priyabrata Panda supported the initiative.
Paintings by children at the competition will be displayed at the upcoming international Dhauli Art Festival to be held February 25.
Samal said, “There will be a special chamber at the Dhauli International Art Festival in which works of these children will be displayed. We have formed a jury committee to evaluate the paintings and winners will be announced later.”
Some of the winners will get an opportunity to study in art and craft college free of cost.
