Raisuan: In a shocking incident, a five-year-old tribal girl, who suffered burns, is battling for life as she allegedly didn’t get treatment till recovery at SCB Medical College and Hospital due to lack of money.
Many quarters have decried the alleged government apathy towards the girl Chandamani, daughter of Madha Munda, of Dalimapur in Mahadeipur panchayat here in Keonjhar district.
According to reports, Chandamani sustained serious burns about six month ago. She was first admitted to the district headquarters hospital, but did not get well.
Doctors referred her to SCB Medical College and Hospital. Her parents brought her home, as they were too poor to afford the medical expenses.
Her condition deteriorated due to lack of treatment. Some local people then managed to send her to Cuttack.
After days of treatment, her condition slightly improved. Sadly, then the medical authorities allegedly denied to provide free medicines to the girl, citing that the insurance money of her family was exhausted.
“The medical staff sent our daughter home, saying that they will no longer provide medicines to her,” Chandamani’s parents lamented.
While Chandmani is struggling for life, her sister is now down with malaria and admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Keonjhar.
Locals said they wanted to admit Chandamani at the DHH and had requisitioned ambulance, but it didn’t turn up. They urged the administration to help out the minor girl. PNN
