Deogarh: A tuition teacher was Wednesday detained by the police on charge of sexually exploiting five minor girls in different phases at Talesara village under Kundheigola police station in Deogarh district.
The matter came to the fore after the parents of the victims lodged a written complaint in this connection. Acting on the complaints, police swung into action and detained the tutor who is now being interrogated. The accused teacher was identified as Rabindra Sahu. Sahu was a private tutor and took classes of schoolchildren. However, he took advantage of this and often molested the five girls and sexually exploited them on several occasions.
He had been committing the crime over last three months. He then threatened the victims not to reveal the incident to anyone. Fearing social stigma, the victims did not dare disclose the matter to anyone. However, parents of two of the victims confronted Sahu over the matter Monday after which the incident came to the light. Later, they lodged a complaint with police in this regard. Acting on the complaint, police Wednesday detained Sahu for questioning.
“Based on the statements of five students, we are investigating the incident. The girls have been sent for medical examination and the accused is being questioned,” a police official said.
