Bhubaneswar: A tuition teacher was Sunday arrested for allegedly raping a Plus II student at Unit-II here.
The matter came to the fore after the minor girl’s mother lodged a complaint at Capital police station.
The accused was identified as Sushant Kumar Panda, 28, from Unit-II area.
According to the complaint, the girl attended the tuition with her friends. As usual, she had gone for her tuition classes Friday. All other students left for home after the classes were over while the accused made the girl stay back on some pretext.
He then allegedly tried to lure the girl into physical intimacy. When she objected, he locked the house and outraged her modesty, it was alleged.
Though he threatened the girl with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone, the victim narrated her ordeal before family members.
The accused was arrested and further investigation is underway, police said.
