Bhubaneswar: Airfield police station personnel Thursday arrested a woman for thrashing her four-year-old son on Ekamra College Road. The police action came following orders from Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhansu Sarangi who came to know about the incident from a Twitter post.
The incident occurred a couple of days back, February 23. The woman beat up her son mercilessly as the kid refused to attend tuition classes.
An onlooker recorded the incident on his mobile phone. He recently uploaded the video on his Twitter handle. The video went viral. Sarangi also came to know about it. He immediately directed Airfield police station to investigate into the incident.
As a result, the police suo moto registered a case and arrested the woman under section 75 of Child Protection Act and Section 323 of IPC. However, she was released after counseling and on condition that she would never beat her son again.
