Kendrapara: Two girls drowned to death in Kendrapara district during the last two days.
Official sources said an eight year old girl identified as Arpita Rout of Baipatana under Pattamundai police limits drowned Friday while bathing in river Luna.
The local people fished her body from the river and rushed her to the Pattamundai Sub Divisional hospital. The doctor declared her dead on arrival.
In another incident, a 15-year old girl identified as Lizarani Patra of Gobindapur village under Rajnagar police limits drowned in Brahmani river while bathing along with her two cousin sisters the day before.
She drowned while trying to rescue her sisters. A fellow villager who was taking bath nearby tried to save the three girls but managed to rescue only the two of the cousin sisters.
Later she was fished out from the river in critical condition and first rushed to the Rajnagar community health center and then shifted to district head quarter hospital where the doctor declared her dead on arrival.
