Balasore: In a shameful incident, at least two miscreants allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped a minor girl at Remuna area in Balasore district Tuesday night while she was returning home from a fair.
According to police officials, the two miscreants – Hemant Bindhani and Babul Barik abducted the girl forcibly and allegedly raped her in a nearby forest.
The incident came to the fore after the victim mustered courage and revealed her horrifying ordeal to her father.
Acting on the complaint, a case under the relevant Section of the POCSO Act has been registered at Durga Devi police outpost, lodged by the victim’s father.
On being informed, police started an investigation into this matter. After a frantic search, Remuna police arrested Hemant, Babul who went absconding after the incident.
The medical examination of the girl has been conducted at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
