Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed in a road mishap near Utkal Heights close to Rudhrapur village under Balianta police limits here late Friday evening. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, as a goods-laden TATA 407 mini truck turned turtle on the road, the driver of a trailer truck following it applied the break suddenly to avoid hitting the overturned vehicle. A Hyva dumper coming from behind hit the trailer, unable to control its speed. Consequently, the driver and helper of the Hyva sustained fatal injuries. The duo was rushed to the Capital Hospital where the doctors declared them ‘brought dead’.
The Hyva was totally crushed in the accident. Police said some other persons also sustained injuries in the incident.
Meanwhile, traffic on the NH-16 near Hanspal was blocked till late in the night after the accident as police tried to clear the mess.
