Two schools get STEM labs

Bhubaneswar: Deenabandhu Trust Tuesday inaugurated the STEM labs at two government high schools situated on the city outskirts to promote activity-based science learning and innovation among students. The trust has partnered with Capgemini to implement the programme.

Chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority Subroto Bagchi inaugurated the facilities at Pubasasan and Nahalpada high schools.

The inaugural program was also attended by Senior Director of Capgemini-Bhubaneswar Manas Mishra, Honorary Director of Deenabandhu Trust, Odisha Branch, Ramakrishna Mohapatra and Managing Trustee Saibal Mitra.

Mohapatra said, “STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) knowledge and skills have led to scientific and technological innovations that have permeated the day-to-day lives and brought immense benefits as well as challenges. The facilities were inaugurated to ensure that students of Pubasasan and Nahalpada schools compete for exciting new careers in STE(A)M, InnoSTE(A)M education.

Mitra said, “The partnership between state government, Deenabandhu Trust and Capgemini would lead to significant improvement in the adopted schools. This would create better infrastructure and empower the school management committees. All these would lead to significant improvement in the academic performance of the students.”
