Harichandanpur: A five-year old tribal boy and his two-and-a-half-year old sibling were left destitute after the death of their parents at Bangurusuni of Rebanapalashpala panchayat under this block in Keonjhar.
Sura Munda (5) takes care of his younger brother Mansingh Munda (2.5 years). Sura goes to Anganwadi centre, leaving behind his brother at a dilapidated shanty.
They survive on the offerings of co-villagers. While they are supposed to be taken care of and educated by parents, the kids are struggling for life. Sadly, the administration has not taken note of their miserable condition. They fail to arrange two square meals a day for them. The two kids face constant risks from the precarious shanty. It hardly protects them from sun or rain. In rain and storms, the two siblings take shelter in the houses of neighbours.
Their uncle Sagar Munda (25) and sister Minjari Munda (30) love the two kids, but they are already burdened with their own families. What they earn from daily wages is too meagre to support their families. They sometimes lament that they are not able to bring up the two kids.
Villagers including Ram Munda, Kanhucharan Munda, Parbati Munda, Jaysingh Munda, Laxmidhar Munda and Budhuram Munda appealed to the administration for the rehabilitation of the siblings who have no food nor shelter.
Sushant Kumar Pati, BDO of Harichandanpur, said an investigation will be done about their plight and steps will be taken for their rehabilitation in a day or two. PNN
