Gop: Largely irritated over regular power disruptions, residents under Gop electricity section laid siege to the street Saturday night. Locals staged a road blockade at the bazaar square from 11pm to 7am Sunday morning.
Amid rising tension, police officials and an engineer of the electricity department reached the spot in the morning and discussed the matter with the locals.
However, the blockade was lifted after executive engineer Pratyush Mishra gave a written assurance, promising them early action to solve the problem.
The locals are reeling under regular power cuts for quite some time now. Though they had complained repeatedly to the officials, there was no positive response. The problem persisted.
More than 15 hours of power cut Saturday and Sunday was too much to bear for the inhabitants.
