Jagatsinghpur: Police recovered the burnt body of a youth from a school-cum-cyclone shelter at Daagaon of Adhang panchayat under Balikuda police limits in this district in the early hours of Sunday.
Police informed mediapersons that when they found the youth he had 70% burns on his body. Within minutes he died.
The cops are yet to ascertain if the youth was murdered or he committed suicide. However, registering an unnatural death case (Case No-15/19), they have launched an investigation.
According to inspector-in-charge Sarbeswar Behera, at midnight, they received a call informing them about a youth severely burnt struggling for life. When they reached the spot, the youth could barely tell them that he belonged to Khurda district. However, then he breathed his last. He had a cut on his left hand and the clothes on him were completely burnt.
Police seized a pair of slippers, a knife and a match box from the spot.
