Union minister inaugurates Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Malkangiri

New Delhi: In an attempt to provide better education opportunities to the students in Maoist-affected areas, the Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishak’ Friday inaugurated a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Malkangiri district and a National Navodaya Leadership Institute at Puri in Odisha.

The minister also inaugurated a building of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Sambalpur along with 12 other KVs in the country and laid the foundation stone of six KVs including Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jagatsinghpur through videoconferencing here.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister congratulated all the officers of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti for increasing the number of JNVs to provide quality education in rural areas and hoped that Navodaya Vidyalayas will enlighten each region of the country by doing excellent work.

“JNVs provide quality and modern education to the talented children predominantly from rural areas. The education includes important components like social values, environmental awareness, collective activity and physical education. The quality of these schools is reflected by the fact that many students who have passed from JNVs are working successfully on the strength of their talent in all the prestigious fields like civil serves, Medical and Engineering services etc. Last year, 4,451 JNV students qualified the JEE Mains, 966 JEE-Advanced and 12,654 NEET. In addition to this, 12 students have got admission to International Universities in the last three years,” he said.

Extending his warm greetings to the principals, staffers, and students of KVs, Nishank said the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has become an institution of excellence within the government system and is now getting recognition at international platforms.
