Utkal University celebrates its 49th convocation

Bhubaneswar: Governor Ganeshi Lal presented doctorate degree and gold medal to students  at the 49th Convocation of Utkal University here Friday. In the convocation 334 students got their doctorate and 94 got gold medal for thir outstanding performance. On the occasion vice chancellor SM Patnaik, Chief justice of Odisha Justice KS Jhaveri, Director AIIMS Bhubaneswar Gitanjali Batmanabane were present at the convocation.

On the occasion, Ganeshi Lal told students that education is a privilege and it doesn’t stop after one finishes University. It is a process for the rest of one’s life.

“As you go out to make a mark in life remember to be passionate along your journey and focus on reaching your destination, treat everyone and everything with humanity and compassion. He also said that every person in this planet is unique. You should stop trying to fit in and stop hiding your capabilities. Stop being satisfied with being average, you do not need to imitate, be the person you are meant to be,” the Governor added.

Governor announced that Utkal University has finalized establishment of an incubation centre. “I hope it will not be limited to science and IT or commerce and Management. It should be centre for generation growth and implementation of innovative ideas,” he added.

He quoted Swami Vivekananda “All power is within you. You can do anything and everything. Believe in that.”

On the occasion Vice chancellor SM Patnaik said that Utkal University had set up several special centres with the help of funds from Central, State and World Bank forums.

This apart, under the assistance RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan), the University has set up nine centre of excellence in several fields.

The new campus of Utkal Universty at Chandikhole in Jajpur district offers PG courses in MBA in Rural management and Master in Public health.
