New Delhi: Vice Presidential candidate Gopal Krishna Gandhi Tuesday met the parliamentarians belonging to Biju Janata Dal (BJD) here Tuesday morning, days before the vice presidential polls.
Gandhi met the MPs at the official bungalow of party leader Bhartruhari Mahtab at around 9:30am when the MPs converged to greet him and interact with the candidate who has already been assured of support.
In the 45-minute meeting, Gandhi reminded the party MPs about his love for the state and respect for the state’s luminaries like Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das. Mahtab said, “Gandhi is nothing less than a cultural ambassador for the country. Due to his virtues, the party has already assured the support for his candidature.”
Gandhi said, “I am a citizens’ candidate who believes in power of democracy. I have visited Orissa several times and was inspired by the thoughts and ideals of Gopabandhu Das and Rama Devi. I have often been received gracefully by Naveenji during my visit to the state.”
MPs Pinaki Mishra, Tathagata Satpathy, Pratap Deb, Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh, Prasanna Patsani and others were present.
