Vande Bharat trains for Puri soon: Vaishnaw

The pilgrim town and other parts of Odisha will soon have better railway network coverage as the Indian Railways will extend the services of the Vande Bharat Express with this town. This was disclosed Thursday by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw here Thursday.

“Puri is one of the most favoured and religious destinations from people all across India and even the world. The development work of the Puri railway station is already underway. Connecting Puri through the Vande Bharat Express is on the cards. I am confident that it will start very soon,” the minister said.

During his visit here Vaishnaw said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently announced that 75 Vande Bharat Express trains will connect every corner of India in 75 weeks of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

“The government has resolved that 75 Vande Bharat trains will be connecting every corner of the country in 75 weeks of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence,” Modi had said during his address to the nation on Independence Day.

At present only two Vande Bharat Express trains are operational in India. One of them runs between Varanasi and New Delhi while the second operates between Katra and the national capital.

Vande Bharat is a Shatabdi-type train of semi high speed which offers better amenities and comfort to the passengers.
