Balasore/Bahanaga: A 16-member team of Vigilance simultaneously raided the properties of Manoranjan Barik, headmaster of Haraprasad Nodal High School in Balasore, Thursday over allegation of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The Vigilance sleuths have detected movable and immovable assets worth Rs 96 lakh in his possession at Khantapada, Shergad, Mandagan and Angaragadia.
Vigilance department has registered a case against Barik, Vigilance SP Sunil Kumar Senapati said, adding a further was investigation was on.
The sleuths seized several important documents, LIC bonds, bank passbooks, land documents and gold and silver jewellery. The team brought a three-storied building, cars and motorcycles of Barik under the purview of the investigation.
Bhadrak Vigilance DSP SK Das Mohapatra, Balasore DSP SK Samantray and inspector Mansi Jena were part of the raiding team.
However, the headmaster claimed that he had issues with some political leaders after he was shifted to Khantapada High School a few days so. Those leaders have made such allegations against him and got his houses raided, Barik alleged.
