Vigilance sleuths unearth DA worth crores from DFO

Bhubaneswar: The officials of Vigilance Department Thursday detected disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees from the possession of Rayagada Divisional Forest Officer (DFO). Vigilance sources here said on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets by Bijay Kumar Parida, DFO Rayagada Peripheral, simultaneous house searches were being conducted by Vigilance officials led by eight DSPs, six inspectors, and other staff at seven places in Rayagada, Khurda, Cuttack and Jajpur districts.

Searches were made at the residential government quarter, his office at Rayagada, Kalarahanga, Bhubaneswar, his relatives’ house at Urali, Cuttack, and various other places. During searches one building with an approximate valuation of Rs 1.8 crore, one triple-storied building, and one flat in Bhubaneswar, eight plots, Rs 1.24 lakh cash along with other assets were unearthed. The measurement and valuation of the flat, buildings, and plots is being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is also likely to increase, the sources added.
