New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Delhi Vijender Gupta Tuesday accused Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and Congress party are violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
Addressing the mediapersons, Mr Gupta accused Mr Kejriwal of getting printed ‘publicity letters’ addressed to Delhi Jal Board (DJB) consumers in violation of being distributed along with water utility bills.
”Mr Kejriwal, who is also the Chairperson of DJB, has got printed lakhs of copies of the letter addressed by him in the capacity of Chief Minister on his official letterhead to DJB consumers. These letters are ready to be distributed along with the bills of consumers to their homes in costly large-sized envelopes,” he said.
”It shows that Mr Kejriwal does not care about the EC guidelines, law and the spirit in which free, fair and smooth elections are to be conducted in a democracy. We demanded that the Election Commission (EC) raid DJB offices immediately and seize all the campaign material,” he said.
”In its complaint against the Congress, the BJP said it has violated the MCC on social media by posting a video on its official Twitter handle March 22 with statements such as ‘Chowkidaar chor hai’ and ‘Modi chor hai’ that attempted to ‘show the country’s PM in bad light’,” Mr Gupta said.
”The BJP has approached Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) with a complaint against the AAP and the Congress,” he added.
