Puri: Villagers residing near Malud police outpost under Krushna Prasad police limits in this district gheraoed the police outpost Monday to protest against the alleged atrocities of the new officer in-charge.
According to reports, criminal activities have increased after the posting of Bijay kumar Mohapatra at Malud outpost as the new officer in-charge.
Earlier September 29, as part of the protest against Mohapatra, the irate villagers from Zone 9 had gheraoed the police station.
Following the intervention of the Superintendent of Police Dilip Kumar Swain, the villagers had withdrawn their protest.
However, Mohapatra allegedly abused the villagers who went to the outpost with some complaints Monday, reports said.
Informing the SDPO Sushil Mishra, the angry villagers gheraoed the police station. They continued their protest till the SDPO reached the spot.
Later, SDPO took Mohapatra to the state headquarters.
Mohaptara had earlier been suspended when he was posted in Pipili, reports said.
