A shocking video from the Lalmatiya-Farakka MGR Railway Line in Jharkhand is rapidly going viral on social media. In this video, boys aged around 13–14 years can be seen stealing coal from a moving freight train while performing dangerous stunts straight out of Hindi films. They leap between bogies, climb onto coal-laden coaches with sacks and spades tied to their backs, and then jump down from the moving train.
The video clearly shows how these teenagers are carrying out theft in a highly risky manner, showing no regard for their lives. As soon as the clip surfaced online, it sparked a wave of concern. Netizens pointed out that “a slight mistake could have turned this stunt fatal.”
According to locals, this incident is nothing new. Reports indicate that coal theft has long been a serious problem on the Lalmatia-NTPC Farakka line. Thieves often tamper with the train’s vacuum system to slow it down or bring it to a halt, making it easier to throw coal from the coaches. People waiting on the ground then quickly collect it in sacks and sell it in nearby markets.

Such incidents are common in areas like Moti Pahari, Telo, Phulbhanga, Sonajodi, Dhobadiha, Imli Chowk, and Shivpahar. This entire network operates so cleverly that despite repeated crackdowns and the deployment of CISF, the thefts continue unabated.
Officials confirm that several people have lost their lives in similar incidents over the years. The involvement of children in this dangerous and illegal activity not only underscores the culture of exhibitionism driven by social media but also exposes the deep-rooted coal smuggling problem. The incident poses a serious challenge to both law enforcement and security agencies.
