Bhubaneswar: Karatekas of VV School (VVS) put up a sterling show winning 36 medals including 23 gold, eight silver and five bronze medals in the recently concluded National Karate Championships at the JJ Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Twenty from the school participated in the competition.
Ansika Mohapatra was the star performer with three gold medals. She won the yellow metals in the women’s kata, kumite and steam kata events respectively. Bedanta Das and Vidya Kiran won two gold and one silver medal each. Bedanta and Vidya won all their medals in junior men’s kata and women’s kata events respectively. Jasmin Mishra clinched two gold medals in the junior women’s kata and kumite events. Abhijit Mohanty also won two yellow metals in the men’s junior kata and kumite events.
