Baleshwar: A 65-year old man was killed and his eight-year-old son critically injured after a mud wall of their house collapsed amid incessant rain at Kharidamukhura village under Remuna police limits in Baleshwar district Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Gajendra Singh, 65, while his injured son was identified as Sipun Singh, 8.
According to reports, the mud wall had weakened after continuous rain over the past few days.
Gajendra and Sipun were sleeping inside the house when the wall suddenly collapsed, trapping them under the debris.
Gajendra died on the spot, while Sipun sustained critical injuries. Family members and villagers rescued the boy and rushed him to a hospital for treatment.
Remuna police registered an unnatural death case (23/26) in connection with the incident.
Police recovered Gajendra’s body and sent it to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for post-mortem.
The body was later handed over to his family.
