Odisha to experience warm nights; thunderstorm likely in these districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Wednesday forecasted warm night conditions and issued several warnings for thunderstorm and heatwave conditions that are likely to prevail in Odisha.

Upto 8.30 AM of June 15: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), warm night condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur and Bolangir districts.

As per the Orange Warning (be prepared), heatwave to severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Subarnapur and Bolangir districts.

The weather agency issued a Yellow Warning (be updated) that predicted heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Boudh districts, the IMD bulletin stated.

As per another Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Bhadrak and Kandhamal districts, the IMD bulletin stated.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Angul and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of June 15 to 8.30 AM of June 16: As per Yellow Warning (be updated), warm night condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Subarnapur and Bolangir districts.

The weather agency issued a Yellow Warning (be updated) that predicted, heatwave to severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Nuapada districts.

The warning also forecasted heatwave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts.

As per another Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput districts.

In the same time frame, Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangapur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Ganjam, Gajapati and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Temperature forecast:

The weather agency predicted no large change in maximum temperature (day) over the next five days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

It is likely to be above normal by 4-6 degree Celsius at one or two places in the state over next four to five days. Consequently, hot and humid weather is likely during the next four to five days. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside from 11am to 3pm.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 36 degree Celsius and 27 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 44.3 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 22.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Keonjhar, the bulletin informed.
