Watch: Congress’s AI video showing Modi as ‘chai seller’ sparks political firestorm

A senior Congress leader posted an AI-generated video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on X, showing him selling tea on what appears to be a red carpet. In the clip, Modi is seen holding a kettle and a glass, with flags of several countries, including India, in the background. The AI-generated audio features a voice resembling Modi’s, calling out for tea.

Congress leader Ragini Nayak shared the video on Instagram with the caption, “Who did this now?” along with a laughing emoji.

The BJP quickly condemned the post, accusing the Congress of “abusing” the Prime Minister. In the video, Modi is depicted wearing a light blue coat and black trousers, serving tea at an international event.

Modi has previously said he sold tea at a railway station in Gujarat during his childhood.

BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala sharply criticized the Congress, posting on X, “After Renuka Chowdhary insulted Parliament and the Shiv Sena, now Ragini Nayak has attacked and mocked Prime Minister Modi’s ‘chaiwala’ background.”

Earlier, during the Bihar elections, the Bihar Congress had posted another controversial AI-generated video featuring Modi’s mother. The 36-second clip, which showed Modi meeting his mother in a dream, sparked a major uproar and led to legal action. The Patna High Court later ordered the video removed from all social media platforms.
