Incidents of molestation of young women and girls show no sign of decreasing. Even workplaces are no longer safe. A shocking case has come to light from Kalyan in Thane district, where a shopkeeper allegedly harassed a girl working in his shop. He is accused of sending her obscene messages, which left the victim deeply distressed.
Troubled by his behaviour, the victim confided in her family about the harassment. Acting on this, her family accompanied her to the shop and encouraged her to confront the shopkeeper. The situation escalated when the victim, in anger, beat the shopkeeper with a slipper.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. The incident took place in Kolshewadi, Kalyan. According to the victim, the shopkeeper had been harassing her for a long time. He allegedly tried to get physically close to her and sent repeated obscene messages to her phone.
Fed up, the victim revealed everything to her family, following which her relatives, along with members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), confronted the accused. The victim publicly thrashed the shopkeeper with slippers, and in humiliation, he fell at her feet and begged for forgiveness.
This case highlights the harsh reality that even workplaces have become unsafe for women. The incident has sparked outrage among locals as well as the victim’s family. Following the uproar, police took the shopkeeper into custody and launched an investigation into the matter.
