Farmers in Uttar Pradesh are facing a shortage of fertilisers. Despite standing in long lines, fertilisers remain out of reach. Because of this, farmers in Hamirpur took to the streets in protest. Due to the non-availability of fertilisers at the Maudaha PCF fertiliser distribution centre, farmers protested on the national highway and blocked the road. Police and administration officials reached the spot to pacify the farmers. Upon being informed, the SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) rushed to the scene to convince the farmers, but ended up misbehaving with one of them.

When the SDM was addressing the farmers with a microphone in his hand, a farmer said something that angered him. The SDM, losing his temper, said, “One slap and you will urinate.” A video related to this incident is now going viral on social media.

It is worth noting that, over the last few months, farmers have been facing significant issues with fertilisers. Angry farmers had blocked the road in Hamirpur. Police and SDM Karan Veer Singh arrived to clear the jam. While speaking with a microphone in his hand, the SDM lost his temper, scolded a farmer, and behaved rudely with him.

Farmers have alleged that employees at the distribution center are acting arbitrarily. Reportedly, these employees arrive at 10 a.m. and close the centre at 4 p.m., preventing hundreds of farmers from getting fertilisers. This situation is not limited to Hamirpur and its surrounding tehsils and villages. In many districts, farmers are facing similar problems in accessing fertilisers.
