Weekend shutdown clamped in these two areas of Malkangiri district till end of August

Malkangiri: In view of the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the district, particularly in Malkangiri Municipality and Balimela NAC areas, the district administration has clamped weekend shutdown in these two places till August-end.

“I Manish Agarwal, IAS, Collector and District Magistrate-cum-chairman, DDMA, Malkangiri, being the empowered officer under section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897, do hereby ordered to implement Weekend Shutdown on all Saturdays and Sundays in the months  of August, 2020 i.e. on 8th-9th, 15th-16th, 22nd-23rd, and 29th and 30th in Malkangiri Municipality area and Balimela NAC  area in the district,” read the official order.

The allowed services during shutdown period are:

  1. All medical establishments including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, including medicine stores. Movement of ambulance and all medical personnel
  2. District / Block and Municipal Administration/Police/Fire Services.
  3. Central & State Government officials on emergency duty.
  4. Telecom services
  5. Petrol pumps.
  6. Print and Electronic Media identified by District Police.
  7. Water Supply, sanitation, and sewerage workers.
  8. Electricity supply and distribution.
  9. Movement of goods and goods carriers, whether loaded or unloaded.
  10. Industrial establishments, factories, and construction activities.
  11. Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Services, and allied activities, including procurement at Mandis.
  12. Service Sector industries including IT/ITeS, Hotel & Hospitality units. Operation of hotels and hospitality units including their associated offices, movement of staff and associated personnel.
  13. Road transport on highways, road movement of transiting vehicles.
  14. Marriages and funerals, with permission of District Authority.
  15. ATMs
  16. Operation of Bus Station and their associated offices, movement of associated personnel, and activities.
  17. Home delivery of food, groceries, vegetables and essential items by restaurants.
  18. Dhabas along the National and State Highways/Major roads for takeaway only.
  19. Milk booths.
  20. Food and grocery stores for home delivery only.
  21. Newspaper hawkers between 5am and 8am only.

Any deviation of this order shall entail prosecution under the penal provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2005; Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and IPC, the order further stated.
