Bhubaneswar: Top state government bureaucrats have taken a fancy to WhatsApp for real time monitoring of execution of important projects and schemes.
According to a senior IAS officer, all secretaries, development commissioner, additional chief secretaries and Chief Secretary are using WhatsApp as a tool to monitor and review government projects and schemes.
“We had used the application by forming groups during Nabakalebara festival. It helped us complete infrastructure projects through coordination,” the officer told this paper Friday.
Coordination between departmental officials and field officers through the App has become convenient, the official said.
“Through the application, we share the progress of various projects and experience of our field visits with chief secretary and other senior officers. Sometimes, the CS also instructs us where to visit or look after some issue through the app,” secretary of another department said.
Sources also said separate groups have been formed for various projects and schemes. “We have formed 10 WhatsApp official groups to focus on specific projects. We have formed groups for schemes like Aabaas, Aahaar and housing for all involving concerned officials,” an official of housing and urban development department said.
