Bhubaneswar, June 17: Commissionerate police officials Friday issued a notice to industrialist Trailokya Mishra, his wife Ashamanjari Mishra, and son Sabyasachi Mishra and asked them to appear before them by June 22 in connection with a dowry harassment case.
This comes after Sabyasachi’s wife Lopamudra Mishra alleged that her husband and in-laws were harassing and torturing her.
Sources said since Sabyasachi and his parents were away, the notice was pasted on their house.
Earlier, Lopamudra had approached the Khurda protection officer June 16 to press for her four-point charter of demands of interim maintenance, protection from threat, residence right at her in-laws’ house and custody of her child.
As per protection of women under domestic violence Act-2005, protection officers shall investigate cases of violence against women and ensure their safety.
In a related development, Lopamudra along with the members of state progressive women forum and members of other social outfits met twin city police commissioner YB Khurania Friday and demanded stringent punishment against Sabyasachi for his ‘gruesome’ acts.
