Cuttack: A family dispute between a couple took an ugly turn at Erancha village of 42 Mouza under Sadar police limits when the woman killed herself after leaving her husband critically injured.
After being informed about the suicide, police personnel of 42 Mouza outpost recovered the body of Pramila Bhoi Sunday morning and sent it to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) for post-mortem.
Pramila’s husband Krushna Chandra Bhoi, who sustained critical injuries, is recuperating at the same hospital, sources said.
According to the police, the couple picked up a quarrel Saturday night over some issue. In a fit of rage, Pramila attacked her husband with a wooden plank, leaving him critically injured.
In the morning, neighbours rushed Krushna in a critical condition to a community health centre at Bentakar. He was later shifted to SCB after his condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, Pramila consumed pesticide. Neighbours took her to the community health centre, but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival, said 42 Mouza outpost in-charge Suresh Chandra Pradhan.
A case of unnatural death has been registered with the Sadar police, who have initiated a probe into the matter.
