Kamakhyanagar: A woman sustained critical burn injuries when fire broke out in her house at Kantapal village under Kankadahada police limits in Dhenkanal district Thursday.
The seriously injured woman has been identified as Shantilata Jena (32), wife of Pankaj Lochan Jena.
According to reports, the fire mishap took place when Shantilata was busy in her household chores. Her three-year-old daughter was in another room of the house, her son, gone to school.
Though the exact reason of the blaze is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that someone might have set the house on fire over some past enmity or Shantilata herself tried to burn her alive.
After she became critical in the fire mishap, she was admitted to Kamakhyanagar hospital. Her condition is stated to be critical.
Police have started investigation into the incident.
