Nuagaon: A 55-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a train near Sorada village in Nayagada district Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Jhari Behera of Sorada village. According to reports, the incident took place around 1 pm near Sorada Kerandikhola on the Khurda-Balangir railway line. A train travelling from Bhadrak to Dashapalla struck Behera, killing her on the spot.
The circumstances leading to the accident and why she was on the railway tracks remain unclear. Her family members reportedly took her body home.
