Jharsuguda: A woman was picked up from road and gangraped by two persons including a minor during zero nite celebrations near Purna in this town under Town police limits Sunday.
The matter came to the fore after the accused were arrested Wednesday over a complaint lodged by the survivor in the Town police station Tuesday. One of the accused Sanatan Kishan (20) was produced in the court while the minor was remanded to a juvenile home in Rourkela, police said.
The survivor was provided a short stay at Swabhiman shelter home. A case was registered in this connection and further investigations were on, police said.
Police said, the survivor, a mother of two children, was living separately from her husband. She had come to Jharsuguda to meet her two children when she got late and failed to return home due to evening.
She was walking on the road expecting to get a vehicle when the two accused participating in the zero nite celebrations at Purna noticed her. The accused finding her alone picked her up to an abandoned location and took turns on her several times.
The accused fled the scene after the incident when the survivor managed to reach the police station and lodged a complaint.
