Balasore: A woman was killed after she was hit by a train at a railway level crossing at Angargadia in Balasore town, Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Samima Biwi, 50, a resident of Sunhat under Town police limits in Balasore district.
The mishap occurred when the victim tried to cross the railway track on her cycle even though the level crossing gate had been closed. A speeding train coming on the track hit her and rendered her critical.
Locals rushed her to the district headquarters hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Government Railway Police have registered a case and launched an investigation, IIC Papu Kumar Nayak said.
The body was handed over to her family members after the post-mortem, the IIC added.
