According to Inspector in-Charge of Saheed Nagar Police Station, R K Mund, as usual the police deployed near the spot on Janpath stopped the woman who was travelling with a youth on a motorcycle.
Getting annoyed for being stopped, the woman started arguing with policeman and asked the constable to produce his identity card stating that he has no authority to check vehicles.
The incident later turned ugly as the woman caught hold of the collar of the constable in uniform and manhandled and abused him.
Senior police officials at the spot immediately rushed and intervened into the matter. Later, she was taken to the Saheed Nagar police station, where she reportedly apologised to the constable.
Mund said, the police have been regularly checking vehicles from Rupali Square to Vani Vihar due to incidents of chain snatching, drunken driving and other mischievous activities.
