Chandbali: A pregnant woman who was taken to hospital on a trolley delivered a baby boy on the way at Bhatpada panchayat under this block in Bhadrak district Tuesday.
According to reports, Bhanu Mahalik, wife of Suman Mahalik went into labour pain in the morning. The family members contacted 102 and 108 ambulances. However, no ambulance reached the village and the nearby Dolamandap primary health centre has no facilities for pregnant woman.
Finding no other way, the family members arranged a trolley. Despite heavy rain, she was taken to Chandbali community health centre on the trolley rickshaw and delivered a baby boy on the way near Routpada.
Later, after covering a distance of five km, the family members reached the CHC with the drenched newborn and mother.
Both are under treatment.
