Jajpur: A woman teacher allegedly committed suicide by setting herself on fire at Shanti Bazar colony in Dharmashala area of Jajpur district Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Sarojini Das (56), who was working as a teacher at Damodarpur Vidyapeeth school in Dharmashala.
According to police sources, Das was under mental stress for the last few days due to sickness.
Early this morning while her husband was sleeping, she went inside a room and set herself ablaze after pouring kerosene on her body. Hearing the screams of the woman, her husband rushed to rescue her but it was too late.
On being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the body for post-mortem. Investigation into the incident is on.
