Women feted for social contributions

BHUBANESWAR: Four outstanding women were felicitated by Kanya Anmol Hai (KAH) for their exceptional contribution towards society at Swosti Premium here Sunday.

 Kanyaa Anmol Hai, a social organisation, known for its work on protecting girl children had designed an innovative programme to felicitate outstanding women for their inspiring work. Named appropriately as ‘Charan Sparsh’, this initiative has been created to present a platform that celebrates the life, work and legacy of female greats of the state who have inspired generations of girls and women in to excel in different professions. This event is aimed to inspire girls to be examples in personal lives in contributing to social reforms and in being resilient during times of hard challenges and difficulties.

The doyen of Odia devotional songs Shantilata Barik, legendary mountaineer Kalpana Das, inspiring teacher and literary genius Sanghamitra Mishra and veteran Odia actress Namrata Das were unanimously chosen for the awards by the jury for their excellent work in various fields.

This award ceremony was organsied today in Hotel Swosti Primium at Bhubaneswar. Saroj Dash, National Coordinator of KAH, feels a strong need to celebrate the life and work of successful women to inspire the next generation of girls.

Bibhuti Patnaik said, “Woman is the creative energy of the universe. In celebrating and worshipping women power, we pave the way for an equal society.” Asit Mohanty said, “The Youth will have a lot more to learn from the Charan Sparsh program.”  Cine star Anu Chaudhury said, “This is a fantastic concept. We all need to celebrate our women.”

Kalpana Das said that when she gets an opportunity to go for mountaineering, she will definitely take the ‘Kanya Anmol He’ logo along with Lord Jagannath’s Bana (flag).  Founder of KAH Saroj Dash presided over the award ceremony.

Sasmita Dash (Founder), Amiyabala Parida (President), Anshu Tripathy (Co-Chairperson), Archana Panigrahi, Sagar Dash (Coordinator), Suryanarayan Mohanty and Tapaswini Pattnaik among others were present on this occasion.
